Rehan and Meera meet an old childhood friend and love interest, who tells them that the mansion has been haunted for almost 200 years but is now being sold for the first time and that no one can sell it because no amount of money can buy it. Rehan feels sorry for the love interest and pays him half the price of the mansion and buys it from him. The old man tells him that to end the haunting, they will have to keep the caretaker’s body at the mansion.
Rehan sees an old photograph of himself and a girl with his old friend and thinks that it could be the same girl he saw when he was a child and she when she had her scimitar. He rushes to Meera’s house to find her missing, and then learns from the caretaker that she has gone to take the caretaker’s body to the mansion. Rehan follows her, although he is unaware of how she got there.
He discovers the book the old lady was reading and goes to the mansion to read it. He meets Iyer, who tells him where the key is. Meera returns and takes over as caretaker, using the key. She also serenades Rehan to calm him down and reveals that she has seen the ghost herself.
After a few days, Rehan’s father realises that the house is no longer haunted and that the caretaker had been up to no good with his wife. Although he gives his son a wink, he invites Rehan’s ex-girlfriend (whom he is now in love with) and her parents to spend Christmas at the house. Rehan and his father spend time with the ex-girlfriend and her parents, and then go to Meera’s house to see if the caretaker’s ghost is going to show itself.
The lush and beautiful locale, the camera time-lapse sequences, the warm lighting and the moody score and sound make it an alluring experience. The sequences with the ghost are jumpy, but the Bhatts camera work is fluid; in short, he has achieved his ideal. Though the 3D is sometimes a little gimmicky and looks ugly (especially at the beginning of the film), it is refreshing to see the film in this format for once.
